Is it permissible for a pilgrim in Ihram during Hajj, if the weather is cold, to wear more than one layer of unstitched Ihram garments, such as two lower wraps (izar), and does that entail a compensatory sacrifice (dam), or if he covers himself with a stitched blanket, does that entail a compensatory sacrifice?

It is permissible for the pilgrim in the state of ihram (definition) to wear two lower wraps (izaar) or two upper garments (ridaa') one over the other. It is also permissible for him to cover his body with a blanket. However, covering the head is forbidden, unless the pilgrim fears illness, in which case it is permissible for him to cover his head, and he must offer a fidyah (definition) (expiatory sacrifice).
