Is Ibn Kathir blameworthy in his tafsir because he described the ant that Solomon (peace be upon him) spoke to as "lame and..."?

Ibn Kathir's Tafsir (definition) is one of the most important and reliable commentaries based on transmitted narrations. The scarcity of Israʼiliyyat (Jewish-Christian traditions) in it does not diminish its importance, because he authenticates what he narrates. The presence of some weak sayings or Israʼiliyyat does not detract from the book's value, for everyone's words can be accepted or rejected except those of the infallible one (the Prophet), peace and blessings be upon him.
