What is the impurity, the touching of the Qur’an with which is considered an act of disbelief (kufr)? Does the intended impurity disappear with washing and quickly return, or does it only return with running or intense heat? Is the desecration of a copy of the Qur’an that contains the name of Allah, or placing a paper containing the remembrance of Allah Almighty, on top of a stack of papers placed on the ground, considered an act of disbelief (kufr)?

The waswasah (whispering of Satan, obsessive thoughts) has reached an extreme level with you, and what you are doing is an excessive imposition. We have previously explained that the sweating of the hand while holding the Qur’an is a widespread affliction (mimma ta'ummu bihi al-balwa), and that it is not obligatory to place a barrier. There is no doubt that the Mushaf (copy of the Qur'an) is greater than other things containing the remembrance of Allah, and it is not appropriate to place anything containing the remembrance of Allah on papers that are on the ground. However, a person does not become an unbeliever merely by doing so. We advise you to persist in supplication (du'a) and humble entreaty, to ignore these waswasah, and to consult a trustworthy psychiatrist.
