How are missed prayers to be made up?

According to the majority of scholars, missed prayers (fawait) must be made up in their proper order. However, the Hanafis and Malikis do not consider this obligatory if the missed prayers exceed those of a day and a night. The order involves performing the missed prayers in the sequence in which they were missed, such as making up Dhuhr then Asr. This order is waived in cases of forgetfulness, ignorance, fear of the current prayer's time expiring, or fear of missing the congregational prayer. It is permissible for someone who has missed a prayer to perform it with the congregation, intending it as the missed prayer.
