Is it obligatory to maintain kinship ties with relatives through suckling, such as a brother, paternal uncle, or maternal uncle?

Scholars have differed in defining the kinship (rahm) whose ties must be maintained. The most sound opinions state that it is of two types: general and specific. General kinship is the kinship of faith, and its ties must be maintained through faith, love, support, refraining from opposition, justice, advice, and fulfilling obligatory rights. As for specific kinship, it is the kinship through the father and mother, and they have special and additional rights, such as financial support and inquiring about their well-being. Every Muslim with whom you share the brotherhood of faith has obligatory and recommended rights, and if there is kinship, these rights are further emphasized. Foster relatives (mahārim al-raḍāʿah) have confirmed rights and special honor.
