Should one inform the woman one intends to marry about being afflicted with chronic epilepsy?

The suitor must disclose to the fiancée every defect that affects marital life or the rights of the wife and children, or causes the wife to be repulsed, including epilepsy. Ibn al-Qayyim stated that every defect that repulses the other spouse and does not fulfill the purpose of marriage necessitates the option (of annulment). Ibn ‘Uthaymeen held that a defect is that which frustrates the purpose of marriage, such as enjoyment, service, and procreation. Sheikh Salih al-Fawzan also emphasized the obligation of disclosing physical defects before marriage, because it is part of giving sincere advice and prevents disputes, and it is not permissible to deceive or conceal.
