A woman is obligated to ensure water reaches the roots of her hair when performing ghusl (definition) (ritual purification bath) after janabah (definition) (state of ritual impurity). The frequency of ghusl is not considered a dispensation allowing for wiping over the head. However, if hair damage and loss are definitively caused only by repeated washing, then this is considered an excuse that permits wiping over the head, because hair is an adornment for a woman, and its damage is a blemish. But if the cause is chemical hair treatments and frequent water use, then these should be reduced to allow for a complete ghusl while preserving the health of the hair.
