Does a wife separated from her husband years before his death have a legal right to inheritance?

If the husband divorced his wife and died after her iddah (waiting period) expired, or if she was irrevocably divorced, she does not inherit from him. In this case, all the wealth goes to the son, and the full sister receives nothing due to being blocked by the son.

However, if the wife was still under his marital bond at the time of his death, she inherits and receives one-eighth due to the presence of the son. The remainder goes to the son by asabah (agnatic inheritance).

Inheritance matters should be referred to the Sharia courts to verify all heirs, wills, debts, and rights before distributing the estate.
