What is the ruling on following the opinion of an Imam concerning the crucifixion of Christ, namely that the crucifixion of the Prophet Jesus did indeed occur, but that he did not die by it, rather he was raised to heaven after being replaced by another person, while denying the authenticity of Ibn Abbas's interpretation on this issue? And is this opinion considered an innovation (bid'ah) and a disparagement of the sayings of the Companions?

It is not permissible to believe in the crucifixion of Christ Jesus, peace be upon him, because Allah Almighty denied his killing and crucifixion in His saying: "And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but it was made to appear to them so." The doctrine of the crucifixion is the foundation of the distorted Christian religion, and its invalidation means the removal of its raison d'être. Affirming the crucifixion is a demand sought by some to reconcile Islam and Christianity by interpreting the verses of the Qur'an to conform to it. One must refer to the sayings of the noble Companions in interpreting the Qur'an, as they are most knowledgeable of the Qur'an and Sunnah, and whoever contradicts them has erred. The interpretation of Ibn Abbas is preferred due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) glad tidings to him regarding understanding and interpretation.
