The answer

It is permissible to interrupt the circumambulation (Tawaf) or the ritual walk (Sa'i) to perform the prayer. So, whoever hears the call to prayer (Iqamah) while performing Tawaf or Sa'i should pray with the congregation and then complete their Tawaf or Sa'i from where they stopped in the current circuit, without having to repeat the circuit or start the Tawaf from the beginning. Continuous performance between the circuits of Sa'i is not obligatory.
