Should one interrupt the circumambulation (Tawaf) or the ritual walk (Sa'i) to perform prayer when its time is due?

If the obligatory prayer is called while one is circumambulating (Tawaf) or performing the ritual perambulation (Sa'i), one should pray with the congregation and then resume from where one left off in their Tawaf or Sa'i. This is the opinion of the majority of scholars. The Malikis differentiate between Tawaf and Sa'i, stating that Tawaf is interrupted (and restarted) while Sa'i is not. The most preponderant view is that of the majority, which holds that there is no difference between Tawaf and Sa'i.
