ما الدليل على أن الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم لم ينسَ القرآن؟

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The proof that the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not forget the Qur’an is the verse: ﴿We will make you recite, and you will not forget Except what Allah wills﴾ [Al-A’la: 6-7]. The exegetes have differed on the meaning of "forgetting" and the "exception" in it. Some said it was real forgetting, while others said it meant abandoning action or abrogation. However, the verified exegetes, such as Al-Tabari and Ibn Kathir, affirmed that forgetting here is to be taken literally, and his forgetting of some verses during his prayer has been established, as in the hadith of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). However, his forgetting was rare and due to his human nature, and he would remember what he forgot. After the revelation of the verse, he did not forget anything from the Qur’an, except what Allah willed to abrogate in recitation and ruling.
