Have there been Prophetic narrations concerning speaking during meals, and is the Hadith: "Speak during meals, even if it is about your weapons" authentic?

There is no authentic prophetic hadith regarding speaking during meals. However, scholars have mentioned, among the etiquettes of eating, the desirability of conversing at the table without being artificial or excessive. Ibn al-Hajj stated in "Al-Madkhal" that refraining from speaking during meals is an innovation (bid'ah), as is excessive conversation.
