Are there second 'Ad, other than the first 'Ad, the people of Hud, and is it what is meant in Surat Al-Ahqaf, or are those meant therein the people of Hud, and what is the most correct opinion in defining the second 'Ad?

The Prophet Hud, peace be upon him, was sent to the first 'Ad, who are mentioned in Surat Al-Ahqaf. They were destroyed by a fierce, howling wind. They were called "the first 'Ad" because they existed before Thamud, or because they were the first addressed by the verse. Some scholars mention that Thamud were descendants of 'Ad, and that the second 'Ad were in Mecca and were not afflicted by the punishment that befell the first 'Ad. They perished later due to some of them transgressing against others.
