What is the ruling on a pregnant woman making up the Ramadan fast before childbirth for fear of death?

Islamic law does not burden a soul beyond its capacity. If a woman is able to make up for the Ramadan fast during pregnancy, then she must do so. However, if she is unable to fast due to hardship or fear for herself or her fetus, she is excused in delaying the making up of the fast until she delivers and becomes capable. There is no sin upon her. If the next Ramadan arrives before she has made up the fast, there is no expiation (kaffarah) and no sin upon her.
