Is there anything (required) of one who intended Umrah and passed the Miqat on his way to Jeddah, then stayed there for two days, then entered into Ihram from there and performed Umrah, regarding the passing of the Miqat?
Whoever intends 'Umrah from outside Jeddah must enter into a state of ihram from the Miqat or from directly above it (if traveling by air). It is not permissible for him to delay ihram until Jeddah, due to the hadith of Ibn 'Abbas regarding the Mawaqit. Whoever passes the Miqat without ihram and does not return, must offer a dam (sacrificial animal) to be slaughtered in Makkah and distributed among its poor. As for one who is hesitant about performing 'Umrah, he is not obligated to enter ihram from the Miqat. If he then decides to perform it from Jeddah, he should enter ihram from there.
