What is the interpretation of the two noble verses: "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [things] seem attractive to them on earth" and "Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers"?

The verse came in the context of the story of Adam and Iblis's envy of him and his refusal to prostrate to him, where Iblis swore that he would lead Adam's offspring astray and beautify sins for them in this world, with the exception of God's sincere servants. As for the words of Allah Almighty: "Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves," they are a narration from Adam and Eve after they ate from the tree, and their admission of their sin and their repentance to Allah. These are the words that Adam received from his Lord, and He forgave him. And these words represent the human characteristic of confession, remorse, seeking forgiveness, seeking help from Allah, and asking for His mercy.
