Will my physical and mental state return to what it was after definitively repenting from pornography and masturbation addiction, and could repenting from a sin due to health issues rather than fear of Allah be a reason for Allah's lack of assistance?
The root of all calamities and misfortunes in this world and in matters of faith is sins. A servant must know that he is the cause of these misfortunes through his disobedience, and he must return to his Lord in repentance, blaming himself. Allah Almighty says: "Corruption has appeared on land and sea by virtue of what the hands of people have earned, that He might make them taste some of what they have done, so that they may return [to righteousness]" (Ar-Rum 30:41). And Allah Almighty says: "And whatever calamity strikes you, it is because of what your hands have earned, and He pardons much" (Ash-Shura 42:30). A servant must offer sincere repentance to Allah alone, not for any worldly gain, and must feel his shortcomings in fulfilling Allah's rights. The motive for repentance should not merely be seeking comfort or avoiding harm to one's honor and wealth.
