For the slaughtered chicken (Dhabiha) to be permissible to eat, it is a condition that the windpipe (halqum) and the two jugular veins (wadajain) are cut, and that the slaughterer is a Muslim or a person of the Book (Kitābī). If it is slaughtered by stunning, or if the slaughterer is neither a Muslim nor a person of the Book, then it is not permissible to eat, and it is considered carrion (maytah). However, if the Sharia conditions for its slaughter are met, then it is permissible.
