The answer

There are two types of Ghayb (unseen): absolute and restricted. The absolute Ghayb is that which Allah has exclusively reserved for His knowledge, and He has not revealed it to anyone. No one knows it except Him, the Exalted, as He says: {Say: None in the heavens and earth knows the Ghayb except Allah} (27:65), and His saying: {And with Him are the keys of the Ghayb; none knows them except Him} (6:59). The restricted Ghayb is that which is witnessed by some people but not others, and it can be known through legitimate means such as inspiration, trustworthy reports, or advanced sciences, or through illegitimate means such as soothsaying and divination. Whoever claims knowledge of the absolute Ghayb commits an act of disbelief, for it is a repudiation of definitive texts.
