The question

Which is better: praying Maghrib at home in congregation after Iftar, or attending it with the congregation in the mosque immediately upon the Adhan? Likewise, for Fajr prayer, is it better to pray it immediately when it is established, five minutes after the Adhan, without waiting for the "Tamkin" (additional time for light to appear), bearing in mind the commitment to congregational prayer?

The answer

One should take the initiative to attend congregational prayers in the mosque for all obligatory prayers. Whoever hears the call should not stay behind unless there is an excuse. The steps taken towards the mosque raise one's status and expiate sins. The mosque community can be advised to allow sufficient time between the Adhan and Iqamah for people to prepare for prayer, in accordance with the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
