What are the proofs from the Qur'an and Hadith that indicate the virtue of contention and dispute?

The verses that encourage reconciliation are:

1. Allah the Almighty says: "No good is there in much of their private conversation, except for whoever enjoins charity or what is just or reconciliation between people. And whoever does that seeking means to the approval of Allah - then We are going to give him a great reward." (An-Nisa: 114). 2. Allah the Almighty says: "And never would your Lord have destroyed the cities unjustly while their people were reformers." (Hud: 117). 3. Allah the Almighty says: "The believers are but brothers, so make reconciliation between your brothers and fear Allah that you may receive mercy." (Al-Hujurat: 10).

And from the Ahadith: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Shall I not inform you of something better than the rank of fasting, prayer, and charity?" They said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "Reconciliation of disputes, for indeed discord between people is the shaver." And in another narration: "I do not say it shaves hair, but it shaves the religion."
