The answer

This Hadith is very weak because its chain of narration contains two defects: Abd al-Ghafoor ibn Abd al-Aziz and Uthman ibn Matar al-Shaybani, and both are unanimously considered weak. Ibn Kathir and Al-Albani also deemed it weak. The authentic Ahadith regarding the virtue of the word of Tawheed (monotheism) and seeking forgiveness, as well as the Quran's description of those who hasten to seek forgiveness as the righteous and the explanation of their immense reward, suffice in its place. For example, Allah Almighty says: (And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a Garden whose width is the heavens and earth, prepared for the righteous. Those who spend [in the cause of Allah] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon people - and Allah loves the doers of good. And those who, when they commit an indecency or wrong themselves [by transgression], remember Allah and ask forgiveness for their sins - and who can forgive sins except Allah? - and [who] do not knowingly persist in what they have done. Those - their reward is forgiveness from their Lord and Gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide eternally; and excellent is the reward of the [righteous] workers).
