A wife's obedience to her husband and her care for their home are among the most obligatory duties upon her. It is permissible for a man to prevent his wife from visiting her parents if they incite her to disobey him, or to avert harm that might befall him. If a woman disobeys her husband's command to stay in their home, she is considered rebellious (nashiz). It is advisable to reconcile with the wife if she admits her mistake and accepts the excuse, without dwelling on possibilities or the past. Regarding what is called an oath of divorce, it does not prevent the husband from reconciling with his wife as long as her waiting period (iddah) has not ended, because the divorce in this case is revocable.
