What is the fate of one who was committed to deeds and words that would admit him to Paradise, yet he committed an act or uttered a word that would forbid him from Paradise, knowing that he prays, fasts, and fears Allah, but perhaps he committed that unknowingly, unintentionally, or out of necessity?

The virtue of sponsoring an orphan is conditioned upon the sponsor being a devout believer, for only a Muslim soul enters Paradise. The severe warnings against disobeying parents and other sins are not absolute, for whoever from the Ummah dies without associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise. A doer of good deeds, if not a believer, will not enter Paradise; he may be punished before entering it for evil deeds, then enter it if he was a believer. One who repents from a sin is like one who has no sin, and Allah forgives sins without repentance for whoever did not associate partners with Him. Whoever mixes good deeds with sins other than shirk (associating partners with Allah) is subject to Allah's will, and their destiny is Paradise. Shirk is not forgiven except through repentance. Error, forgetfulness, and compulsion are excused. No one can be definitively assigned to Paradise or Hell, except for those about whom the Prophet (peace be upon him) informed us.
