The question

Is it permissible to disseminate a supplication not authentically transmitted from the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and is it considered an innovation, especially if the reader believes it to be authentically transmitted from the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him?

The answer

It is permissible to supplicate with non-transmitted supplications if their meaning is sound, due to the generality of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Let each of you choose the supplication most pleasing to him, and then supplicate to Allah, the Almighty, the Majestic." However, it is not permissible to restrict this unrestricted supplication to a specific time, state, place, or number, nor to invite people to persist in it and adopt it as a regular Sunnah. It should be clarified when publishing such a supplication that it is not transmitted from the Prophet.
