How does a servant know that Allah loves him after he has fulfilled the means of Allah's love?

Among the signs of Allah Almighty's love for a believing servant is the servant's feeling of loving Allah and His Messenger more than anything else, their steadfastness in acts of obedience and avoidance of prohibitions, their loyalty to and love for believers, their humility towards them, and their detestation of disbelievers. The companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, were distinguished by these qualities, as stated in the verse: "Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; and those with him are forceful against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves. You see them bowing and prostrating, seeking bounty from Allah and [His] pleasure. Their mark is on their faces from the trace of prostration." And Allah loves the pious, self-sufficient, and unknown servant.
