What is the legitimate Islamic position regarding a wife who provokes her husband, wrongs him and his family, refuses and evades intimacy, and refuses to travel with him to his place of residence? And what is the legitimate Islamic position regarding a neighbor who negatively interferes in marital disputes and encourages the wife to disobey her husband?

A wife must treat her husband kindly and obey him in what is good. Her refusal to share his bed or travel with him without a legitimate religious excuse, her arrogance towards him, and her raising her voice, all constitute nushooz (disobedience/rebellion). The husband is advised to be patient and wise, and to seek help from sensible people to resolve the problem. If these solutions do not work, and the marriage does not fulfill its legitimate religious purposes, then divorce is permissible. A neighbor inciting a wife against her husband is a clear sin. Spouses should strive to resolve their problems between themselves and not involve others unless absolutely necessary, and then only consult a trustworthy advisor.
