Will a person be held accountable if he buys an expensive shoe when a cheap one that serves the purpose is available?

Allah has forbidden extravagance (israf) and wastefulness (tabdhir). Israf is exceeding the limit, and it varies depending on a person's financial state, whether rich or poor. What is not considered extravagance for the rich might be considered extravagance for the poor. Islamic law has encouraged moderation and economy in living, and abandoning luxury. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, humility (al-badhadhah) is part of faith." Al-badhadhah is the abandonment of luxury and affectation in clothing. It has also been reported that whoever abandons wearing good clothes out of humility to Allah, Allah will summon him before all creatures to choose for him among the garments of faith.
