The answer

Working in a hotel where immoral acts are committed or alcoholic beverages are served is impermissible. The ruling concerning the salary has two cases:

1. If the worker does not directly engage in the forbidden act or assist in it: It is permissible for him to benefit from the salary, though he incurs sin for being present in a place of abomination, and he is obligated to leave the job. However, if the payment is directly from illicit funds (such as the price of alcohol), then it is not permissible to take it. 2. If the worker directly engages in the forbidden act or assists in it: It is not permissible for him to take the wages corresponding to the forbidden act. These wages must be spent on the welfare of Muslims or given as charity to the poor. A poor worker may take from it according to his need.
