Is severing a chicken's neck with an axe in one blow considered a halal slaughter or killing?

It is permissible to slaughter chickens and other animals with an axe or any sharp instrument, as long as it is not a tooth, bone, or nail. So, if the animal's neck is struck with an axe, severing the windpipe and esophagus, or separating its head from its body, it becomes lawful thereby. Decapitation in this manner does not negate the validity of the slaughter, but it is disliked (makruh).
