Is mental illness resulting from violence, cruelty, and psychological trauma considered an affliction that expiates sins through patience and contentment?

Mental illness is an affliction and a calamity for which a Muslim is rewarded through patience and contentment. The meaning of calamity and affliction includes everything that a person dislikes and that causes them pain. It is by the decree and judgment of Allah, and everything that Allah decrees for a believer is good for them. Calamities may be a path for a servant to reach a great status with Allah, and through them sins are expiated. They are a sign that Allah wills good for His servant. One is advised to be patient and seek treatment by consulting doctors and mental health specialists, for this does not contradict reliance on Allah and patience.
