The answer

The verses of Surat An-Nur (24:11-20) were revealed to exonerate the Mother of the Believers, Aisha -may Allah be pleased with her- from what the people of the slander accused her of. Muslims are in complete consensus on this matter. Therefore, whoever slanders Aisha -may Allah be pleased with her- with that from which Allah has declared her innocent has committed major disbelief that expels one from the faith. This is because it constitutes a clear contradiction of the Holy Quran and an aspersion against the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Scholars have issued a fatwa declaring that whoever insults or slanders her is a disbeliever and have ruled that such a person should be put to death.
