As for things that the soul does not desire, such as carrion, they carry a discretionary punishment. Hashish is among the things desired by those who consume it, and it takes the ruling of intoxicants in terms of prohibition and the obligation of the prescribed punishment, because matters are judged by their outcomes. Thus, the prescribed punishment is obligatory for consuming intoxicants when one desires them, whether that is through sniffing, drinking, or injection."
