What is the ruling on kissing the faces of female relatives and the mother's friends, and is it forbidden for anyone other than the mother and wife? What was the practice (Sunnah) of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, regarding this matter?

The customs of Muslims must originate from the principles, values, and ethics of their religion. Kissing or touching cheeks upon meeting and greeting between men and women who are non-mahram to them (such as cousins, aunts, and a mother's friend) is an abominable act and a great door to temptation. It is even more forbidden than shaking hands, the prohibition of which has been established by evidence. If Islamic law does not permit shaking hands with a non-mahram woman, then how could kissing be permissible? Furthermore, Islamic guidelines must be observed in interactions among relatives regarding entering upon women, sitting with them, and speaking to them.
