Is it permissible to perform ablution while wearing socks and then pray without them, or to perform ablution without socks and then put them on and pray while wearing them?

If someone wiped over his socks, then took them off before the expiration of the wiping period and prayed, scholars have differed regarding the validity of his prayer. The preponderant opinion is that it is valid. The wiping period for a resident is one day and one night, and for a traveler, three days and three nights. It is permissible to perform ablution without socks, then put them on and pray with them. The important thing is to wear them after a complete state of purity.
