Why is it permissible for a Muslim man to marry a non-Muslim woman, but impermissible for a Muslim woman to marry a non-Muslim man?

It is permissible for a Muslim man to marry a Dhimmi woman from the People of the Book (Jewish or Christian), provided she is chaste, based on the Almighty’s saying: "And [lawful in marriage are] the chaste women from those who were given the Scripture before you, when you have given them their due compensation." However, it is not permissible for a Muslim woman to marry a non-Muslim, regardless of his religion, based on the Almighty’s saying: "And do not marry polytheistic women until they believe," and because Islam is superior and nothing is superior to it. Furthermore, the man is the head of the family, and a Muslim woman marrying a disbeliever could lead to her being deviated from her religion and the children being raised on a non-Muslim faith.
