The question

What is your advice to a girl who has been wearing the niqab out of conviction for three years, and is facing family pressure to remove it, using excuses such as difficulty finding work or external appearance, while she is strongly committed to it but is weakened by frequent arguments and the whispers of Satan at times?

The answer

Continue wearing the niqab, for it is greater for your concealment, a preservation of your modesty, and the guidance of the Mothers of the Believers and the women of the Companions. Do not listen to those who forbid you from it, for your patience with it will be rewarded immeasurably. There is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to the Creator, even if it be one's parents, for this is from the whispers of Satan. Tell them: "And whoever fears Allah – He will make for him a way out And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah – then He is sufficient for him." Pray for the guidance of those who command you to remove the niqab, and be patient with their harm through forgiveness and overlooking.
