Which is better: praying Tarawih in a group at home with colleagues, or individually to achieve a full recitation of the Qur’an?

The best way to perform Tarawih prayer is in congregation in the mosques. If it is missed in the mosque, then performing it in congregation is still better, provided no harm is anticipated. Some scholars have held that performing it individually is better for a حافظ القرآن (one who has memorized the Qur’an). Sheikh Ibn Qasim said in his commentary on "Al-Rawdh": "Praying in congregation is better than praying individually due to the consensus of the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, and the consensus of the people of the major cities on this, and it is the view of the majority of scholars, though it is permissible to pray individually." He added: "The disagreement is regarding one who has memorized the Qur'an, does not fear becoming lazy if he prays individually, and his absence does not disrupt the congregation in the mosque. If any of these conditions are not met, then congregational prayer is better without dispute." In the event of harm from gathering (such as an epidemic), it is better to pray individually. If gathering is not harmful, while taking precautions, then it is permissible to pray in congregation and then complete the recitation individually.
