Did the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, prevent the marriage of his daughter Fatimah, may God be pleased with her, to Abu Bakr and Umar, may God be pleased with them both, due to her young age, while he, may God bless him and grant him peace, married Aisha, may God be pleased with her, when she was young?

Abu Bakr and Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, proposed to Fatimah, but the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, declined them, saying: "She is young." Then Ali proposed to her, and he married her to him. The hadith (definition) is authentic, and Imam Ahmad did express some reservations about certain narrations from Al-Husayn ibn Waqid, one of its narrators, but it is not entirely rejected. The Prophet's excuse regarding his daughter's young age is not to be denounced, for the guardian chooses what is most suitable for the woman being proposed to. Perhaps the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saw that Ali was closer in age to Fatimah, which would foster affection, unlike his marriage to Aisha, which was by divine revelation.
