Are the two rak'ahs of marriage prayer obligatory or supererogatory? And where should the wife stand when praying in congregation? And should the du'as for intercourse be recited audibly or silently? And is she obliged to repeat them or are they recited only on the first night? And is it permissible to postpone intercourse after reciting the du'as and prayer, or must it take place on the same day?

The two-rak'ah prayer on the wedding night is established from the Salaf, and the mentioned supplication: "Allahumma inni as'aluka min khairiha" (O Allah, I ask You for her goodness), as well as the supplication for intercourse: "Allahumma jannibnash-Shaitan" (O Allah, keep Shaytan away from us), are recommended and not obligatory. The manner of supplication should be in secret, so that the supplicant hears only himself, based on the saying of Allah the Almighty: ﴿And do not recite [your prayer] aloud or [recite it] quietly, but seek between that an [intermediate] way﴾ [Al-Isra: 110]. It is sunnah to say "Bismillah" before intercourse. It is not necessary for intercourse to occur after the supplication; if one intends intercourse and supplicates, then changes his mind, there is no harm. The supplication for intercourse is recommended before every act of intercourse, whereas the two-rak'ah prayer and the first supplication are specific to the wedding night.
