Is Iblis wronged, even though he had a choice? For Allah created him and placed within him the love of prominence and leading the ranks, and He knew—since eternity, glory be to Him—that if he were put to the test to prostrate to man, he would not prostrate. So, was he indirectly forced to disobey?

Only Allah knows what the state of humanity would have been had there been no tribulation. Allah is capable of testing people in other ways, for He tested them with the desires and lusts instilled within their souls, and with the rulings of Sharia they were commanded to observe. The claim of Iblis's victimization is false, for he himself will admit that he and his followers are the wrongdoers, as in the Almighty’s saying: "And Satan will say when the matter has been concluded, 'Indeed, Allah had promised you the promise of truth. And I had promised you, but I betrayed you. But I had no authority over you except that I invited you, and you responded to me. So do not blame me; but blame yourselves. I cannot help you, nor can you help me. Indeed, I deny your association of me [with Allah] before. Indeed, for the wrongdoers is a painful punishment.'" The issue is not one of compulsion, for Allah the Almighty did not compel creation to commit sins; rather, He enabled humankind to choose and guided them to the two paths, and they choose by their will whichever of the two paths they desire, as in the Almighty’s saying: "And say, 'The truth is from your Lord,' so whoever wills – let him believe; and whoever wills – let him disbelieve."
