What is the ruling on keeping a female Persian cat inside the house and isolating her from males to prevent her from becoming pregnant, knowing that she will receive complete care and will not leave the apartment?

If the owner of a cat takes care of it by providing food, drink, and medical treatment, there is no harm in keeping it indoors and preventing it from going out or mating, whether the purpose is to keep it away from males or not. The permissibility of this is indicated by the Hadith of Anas, may Allah be pleased with him: "O Aba Umayr, what did the little bird (Nughayr) do?" The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, affirmed his keeping of the Nughayr. It is permissible to confine a cat and feed it, as a woman entered Hellfire because of a cat she confined; she neither fed it nor let it eat from the vermin of the earth. This indicates the permissibility of confining it provided it is fed. Furthermore, confining females away from males and preventing them from mating is less severe than sterilizing or castrating them.
