The Quran was compiled twice: The first time was during the era of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, based on a suggestion from Omar ibn Al-Khattab, after many reciters were killed on the Day of Yamama. Zayd ibn Thabit was responsible for its compilation. The second time was during the era of Uthman ibn Affan, based on a suggestion from Hudhayfah ibn Al-Yaman, due to people's disagreement over the Mushafs (copies of the Quran).
