Why does Satan strive to commit evil and exert himself in it despite knowing his inevitable destiny in Hell?
Iblis, jinn, and humans all have the freedom of choice between obedience and disobedience. Allah commanded Iblis to prostrate to Adam, but he refused out of arrogance. So, Allah expelled him and cursed him. Iblis asked Allah to grant him respite until the Day of Resurrection, and Allah granted his request. Iblis resolved to mislead the children of Adam out of envy and enmity, because he was expelled from Allah's mercy due to their father Adam. This is why Allah Almighty warned His servants against him. Iblis is the head of evil, and the believer is saved from his evil by obeying his Lord and adhering to His religion, for Satan has no authority over believers who put their trust in their Lord.
