What is the ruling on praying behind an Imam who says: "Our master Muhammad, may God's prayers and peace be upon him, is the light of existence and the cause of existence"?

First: Allah created creation for His worship and monotheism, and a believer must follow the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.

Second: The Sufi expressions regarding the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, being the "Light of Existence" or the "Cause of Existence" may carry correct meanings through interpretation if what is intended is the illuminator of existence with truth, or the cause of earthly creation that was subjugated for the children of Adam. However, if what is intended is a literal light or exaggeration (ghuluw), then it is an error. Some scholars disliked these phrases absolutely to avoid exaggeration.

Third: Praying behind this Sufi depends on his other statements and actions. If he engages in polytheistic acts (shirk) such as invoking graves and saints, then one should not pray behind him, even if he is excused by ignorance, as a rebuke to him and so that he does not become complacent due to people's silence. However, if he is inclined towards innovation (bid'ah) without polytheistic acts, then there is no harm in praying behind him. It is preferable to pray behind an imam from the People of Sunnah and الجماعة (Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah).
