The answer

If the muezzin gives the call to prayer (adhan) while one is reciting the Quran, it is preferable to interrupt the recitation and follow the muezzin in response to the command of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "When you hear the muezzin, say as he says." This is because responding to the muezzin is a Sunnah that will be missed if not done immediately, whereas the time for reciting the Quran is ample.
