The question

Does reading horoscopes for entertainment, believing some of them by coincidence, in addition to reading "See Your Luck Today" and "Who Will Get Engaged Soon" from Facebook, entail the non-acceptance of prayers for forty days? If so, how are the missed prayers to be made up? Is sincere repentance accepted before making up the prayers? Is it permissible to make up for missed fasts and perform ghusl from menstruation during this period?

The answer

It is not permissible to look into horoscopes or what is called "know your luck today" for entertainment or to learn about personal characteristics, because it falls under consulting soothsayers. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, clarified that whoever comes to a soothsayer and believes him, his prayer will not be accepted for forty days, meaning he will not be rewarded for it, even though performing it remains obligatory. One must repent from this act by refraining from it, feeling remorse, and resolving not to return to it in the future, for Allah accepts repentance from His servants and forgives sins.
