The answer

It was previously clarified that the ruling on photography and the ruling on keeping pictures for remembrance, and a picture of a young child falls under that. A group of scholars has favored prohibiting the possession of pictures in general. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen was asked about keeping pictures for remembrance, and he answered that it is forbidden, citing that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) informed that angels do not enter a house in which there is a picture. He affirmed that possessing pictures is not permissible except out of necessity, and that what some people do by taking pictures for remembrance and keeping them is not permissible, due to the generality of the hadith: "Angels do not enter a house in which there is a picture."
