Is it permissible for a traveler to shorten the prayer (qasr) if he resides in a foreign country for three months where Friday and congregational prayers are not held, knowing that he travels daily a distance exceeding 100 km and returns to the hotel? And is he sinful for residing in this country, and what should he do?

We have previously explained that travel ends with the intention of residing for four days, excluding the days of entry and departure, or with the intention of residing for more than 20 prayers. The considered distance for travel is 83 km one way only, and its calculation begins from the last inhabited area of the city. If the distance covered on the way there exceeds that, you are permitted to avail yourself of the concessions of travel. There is no harm in residing in a country where there are no mosques that hold Friday prayers and congregational prayers. It is obligatory to observe prayer at its prescribed time, and if there is no congregation to hold Friday prayer, then it should be prayed as Dhuhr (noon prayer).
